About us

The Old Royal Oak is definitely worth a visit, located in Knaresborough's famous 'Market Square' the pub dates back to the 18th century and has a real 'oldy worldy' feel to it, it’s even got it's very own ‘Priest Hole’.

Around the Market Square and high street are lots of little shops and galleries. If you visit on a Wednesday you can enjoy the colourful market. Knaresborough castle is a must see with commanding views over the town and River Nidd.

Food is served on Sundays 12-1:30. We serve traditional home made, wholesome pub food. There is also an array of alternative restaurants within the town.

Yes, we sell a variety of options, including gin, beers, wheatbeers and ciders. There are also a large selection of soft drinks including Coca-cola and J2O.

We serve Sunday lunch from 12 until sold out (normally 1:30). This is our amazing carvery, with Shaz's homemade Yorkshire champagne (gravy).

Yes, dogs are allowed provided they are well behaved. They are not allowed after 7 on a Saturday.

Children are allowed in the pub, but will not be served unless with a supervising adult. No children are allowed after 8 O'Clock.

On Fridays we have discos, Saturdays karoake, and on Sundays we have live bands in summer.
We also do events if you would like to have your birthday or celebration here, please let us know.

Yes, many of the guestrooms and the bar itself are. We have a priest hole, which is home to our resident poltergeist.
